The Last Two Walls

<- backindexnext ->
Friday July 24th, and we're back. If the rain holds off we might get another wall done.

We peeled all of the siding looking for any rot. It all seems clean, we can fly now!

While the wall was open, we tossed out all of the interior drywall and paneling.
Just walk it right out.
With no rot, the framing is a breeze. Are those rain clouds?
One window in.
Is that a sprinkle of rain I feel?
It's raining we had better get this project moving!
Finally, we're ready for some siding. We'll frame the bathroom area after we get the rest closed in.
That goes quick. We finished up the rest of the wall that night.
Saturday morning, and the last wall get's peeled.
Nothing holding the roof on this side either!
Oh boy, what a mess that is. Someone cut the floor open to work on the plumbing
It looks like they tried to fix the rotten floor under the toilet too.
The cast iron toilet drain was pulled away from the waste pipe, yuck!
Do I look lost? We plan to move the toilet anyway, so everything get's ripped out!
Once we get past that mess, the wall frames pretty fast.
It's getting late and the rain is coming, let's cover the wall with the old paneling.

Is that a toilet paper holder above your head?

Well, I guess it is!
July 26th, Sunday morning. Let's roll!

We finished up the wall framing and are ready for some windows!

Windows in, and flashing in place
Siding is up, and the cripple studs are set for the roof
Hot dog! A few more nails and we can go home!

Oops, we need a side door before we can leave! I hate setting doors on Sundays!

Saturday August 9th. Another quick trip. We're planning to get some window trim bent.
We got the boards up, but rain stopped the aluminum work.
We've stripped the interior ready for something new.
What a mess, we need a plan.
We pulled the deck away from the foundation, we're ready to cut that up.
