Lake Sapphire Cottage #2
The Forest Wall

<- backindexnext ->
Saturday July 11th. We have a spare weekend, let's run up and get the window installed in the Forest Wall.

We call it the "Forest Wall" because it faces a nice thick stand of trees. It won't take long, just peel the siding and frame for a window.

Um, remember the shed up against the cottage? It seems snow and rain made it's way into the wall and caused some rot here too!
We'll just knock it all out and fix it right!
Bah, I hate rotten wood!
I guess it gives the ants a place to call home?
Slice out the bad stuff
Now we can get back to window framing
We've added a metal flashing around the foundation to keep the block from rotting the siding.
There was nothing holding this end of the roof up, except the old siding boards.
Another delay while we cut some angled studs for that.
Now we can finish the siding.
Hey it's only 3:00 PM on Sunday, let's install the doorwall before we go home.
Assembly of the frame
The opening, ready for the frame.
Now to lock it in place.
There's that view again.

It's 6:30 we had better get going, it's a 4 hour ride home!
