More Outdoor Work

Friday September 3th. Labor Day weekend, and we're going to try and finish the beach area.

We started with the upper retaining wall.

We'd build the panels, and tie them together.
A bit of backfill to keep them in place and we're almost done.
Saturday morning, now we're ready to start the beach stairs.
These will lead to the dock and the sand beach we made.
We're done. It took a full day to get the steps and paver patio finished.
A view from the pontoon boat after a hard days work.
Sunday, we're slowly marhing up the hill with the steps.
Digging for another little paver patio slows us down a bit.
There is a lot of material to move, and the weather is turning bad.
Bah, it's raining and cold! Let's call it a day.
Monday, Happy Labor Day!

The little patio is done, and we're ready to start up the hill again.

Some complicated angle walkways to tie into the well pit and we can wrap this project up!
A beach view of the completed beach stairs. There is a bit more work to do on the first patio.
A bottom up view of the whole project.
Sweet, now we just need to grade the rest of the yard, and get some grass growing!
September 25th. Another weekend working in the yard. This is a picture of the 26th, it sprinkled ALL day on Saturday YUCH!

We need to finish up the rocks before we can do the final grade

We're getting there, still a lot of rocks and dirt to move before we can go home.
We're cleaning up the yard as we go, burning all of the scrap.
Some left over Hostas get planted. We have plenty more where those came from!
The beach steps get some final touches.
Final grade is done! Mom is spreading the grass seed.
I sure hope the grass grows soon.
Lets work on the grade in the back yard a bit.

While we're on the dozer, let's grade the driveway too!

Saturday, October 2nd. We're back!

It's a cold and windy day, and we're building a little deck as a side porch.

Just a bit of blocking, and we're ready to nail the decking down.
Done! We're using that sheet of plywood to block the howling winds.
A picture from the lake, we decided to pull the pontoon boat for the year.

The top caps for the retaining walls are ready for tomorrow

One more step to bring the grade up to the new porch.
It's swept out a bit to keep the area stable.
We used some leftover flag stones from our other cottage project
Now it's time for those pesky top caps
They are a pain, each one needs to be cut to fit the wall angle
They sure finish off the top.

It's 5:00 on Sunday, we're outta here!
