My Car
I finally have my own car to drive!

My new (old) ride! It's a 1995 Sable, with only 76,000 miles on it. It was driven by a little old lady (from Taylor), really it was! She was a smoker, so Matt and I are cleaning it up a bit.

Last year, Paul said he would split a car with me, so I saved over $600. Ha, no excuses now!

Right before the 2004 summer break I got a job, the last requirement for the car. We searched the papers, the on-line ads, and all the local car dealers for a car that I could afford. Nothing looked any good. Finally, Paul's dad spotted this deal, and we jumped on it!

It has electric everything, and it all works too! Thanks everybody!, gotta run!

Ahhhhh! December 3rd, 2004, My first winter driving! The day after my birthday, and I've only had the car 6 months. A patch of ice did me in.
(you should see the other guy's car!)

I sure hope we can fix her up.

It looks tragic! The hood is ruined, the lights are all broken out, the bumper is pushed way back, but the fenders are untouched!

The airbag didn't go off, and the windshield didn't break, so there might be hope??? please!

We can't get it to start, I sure hope that isn't anything serious.

Wow, the radiator is busted, a relay module is crushed too, maybe that's the reason for the no-start??

The frame rails don't look bent, and the front is still solid. We need to get some advice on this one!

I sure hope we can fix her up.

We had Bill stop out and take a look. He said that bent support will need to be replaced by a pro.

He said it's worth going ahead with the repairs, but it's better (cheaper) if we strip the front end ourselves.

Mike jumped right in to take off some brackets.

Mike, Matt and Paul started clearing everything off the front end. We're down to the hard parts now, so it will have to wait for daylight.

There where no leaks from the transmission or power steering coolers, so those look good. Paul repaired the relay box, and found a blown fuse engine controller.

Now my old girl runs again.. Well, at least it starts again?

The next day we finished up removing the radiator and the front fenders.

The wiring harness had to be pulled away from the frame and tied down to keep it from the belts and exhaust.

The part that needs replacing spans the entire front, WOW!

Paul borrowed Freddie's race car trailer to take it up and have the core support replaced.

When that's done, we'll bring it home and start the re-assembly

That Saturday, Paul and I went to the "bone yard" to scavenge parts to fix my car. It was so cold!

I found a good hood latch, I think we need one of those!

Me and Matt are posing next to my almost finished Sable.

Paul took the car over Mark's house to work in his garage, they completely reassembled my car! The batteries in the camera where dead, so no "during" pictures.

Now all I need is a little paint!
